Here is a (growing) list of some of the small but important things you can do, to help make proportional representation a reality:
1. Sign the Federal Declaration of Voters’ Rights
Visit the Fair Vote Canada website and sign the online declaration, which has now reached over 80,000 signatures. Your signature is an important part of letting the government know the growing support for proportional representation.

2. Sign and help collect signatures for Ontario’s Declaration of Voters’ Rights
Ontarians are growing tired of a government that in no way represents their views. Now is the time to advocate for electoral reform in Ontario. Our declaration for Ontario is a paper-only petition. Please download it here, help us collect the signatures of people you know, and follow the instructions to send it to us!
3. Donate to Fair Vote Canada
Visit Fair Vote Canada’s website to DONATE. Our work is funded entirely by donations from people like you! Your donations help us cover administration costs, programming, and allow us to take on new initiatives like video ads during referendums or elections.

4. Visit, Call or Write Your Federal MP or Provincial MPP.
Write to your federal or provincial representatives. Signing a petition is a good first step, but taking the time to write your MP is even better. If we don’t contact our MP’s, they will never know how many Canadians really support changing to a proportional system. If we ALL contact our representatives, they will know how serious this issue is to Canadians. Calling them or visiting them is even more effective.
5. Volunteer With Fair Vote Toronto
We always welcome new volunteers. If you would like to be notified of future volunteer opportunities, such as writing content, social media campaigning, or visiting MPs and MPPs please contact us.
6. Follow us on social media!
Follow us on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram to stay connected and share our posts.
7. Become more informed.
Sign up for our newsletter to stay connected and learn more about proportional representation at fairvote.ca, so you can become a more effective advocate for electoral reform.
8. Download a sign for the next rally, or for your yard or window.
Download our signs here.
9. Help Others Make the Connection
Most people don’t think about the fact that the policies that are passed by the government are directly linked to our voting system. If we want a government that accurately and fairly represents our values, then we need to adopt a voting system that will give every voter the representation that they voted for. Advocacy groups form to challenge specific policies, overlooking the faulty voting system hiding in plain sight beyond those unpopular policies. Fair Vote is there to remind them and urge them to include a call for fair voting in their demands.
10. Invite us to speak to a group you belong to or at your event.
Contact us and let us know what your needs are. We would be happy to visit your group or event.
